We Live in Public
TAGABOW mgmt is pissing me off. Sloppy work.
Jack sent me the wrong start time for the Adam Friedland show.
So I got to NYC hours early. Not used to that feeling. Actually deeply averse to it.
But he made things right. Secured some road sodas in anticipation of my arrival.
I pulled up to Ridgewood, and we got talking strategy. Real top-line ideation.
They Are Gutting a Body of Water: LIVE on television, for the first time in recorded history
The Adam Friedland Show is deep in Manhattan. Not sure where exactly. They blindfold you & walk you around before you can go inside.
I don’t know much about Adam. I know he had a show called Cum Town. I saw his clip asking Julian Casablancas about “finger-popping-style music,” and the one where he asks Danny Brown abt the biggest person he’s ever slept with. Otherwise I had no context.
I can tell you he’s a generous host—sending Asa to get beers and all—and an expert hirer of staff. He’s brought together a phenomenally accomplished and well-equipped production team.
OsamaSon pulled thru during soundcheck wearing a Rolling Loud letterman jacket. List?
TAGABOW played loud.
I’m not sure what to make of the interview. Fairly bizarre watching the band & Mr. Friedland figure out what to make of each other.
Should be good fodder for the clip farms though. Doug got right into it. I’d imagine you’ll hear at least one quote from this episode.
Benny O the acidfreek is low key magnetic on the mic. Gotta get this guy more talk shows. Must be all that weed he quit smoking. “My brain activity is through the roof,” he said. “I dream about smoking a blunt every night.”
Seems like they hashed out plans for a Quiet Light session at afters.

True Panther x Dead Air @ Xanadu
“In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure-dome decree” - Andrew Baker
I missed most of this. Pretty electric energy though. Thought I’d see Joe Coscarelli. He must have dipped out right after the roller skating.
Which is ok. I wasn’t doing my best work.
I knocked over a glass bottle in the green room. On a glass table. Pretty loud. It didn’t break & it was just seltzer. But still. “I’m sorry, excuse me,” I said, “I’m super fucked up.” I was mostly joking & meant to play it off. I cringed internally & turned away. But I had too many jackets on. As I turned, I knocked over another bottle—adding credibility to the idea that I was, in fact, super fucked up.
But I guess I’m the one who started the rumor. And I am a lightweight. It was a cigs in the green room kind of night though [rare]. So there were casualties all around.
A trusted source who spoke on the condition of anonymity found himself talking to a music industry big shot, and mid-conversation, the businessman looked down to check if my source was on roller skates.
You could spot the label heads from afar. I didn’t talk to Dean, but saw him buzzing around in an orange leopard print sweater. Jesse in a skeleton shirt.
Raphael Helfand is a gentleman and a scholar. No sign of Archie Marshall & his matching sweater / hat combo by the time I pulled up. First time seeing the Frosties in a long while.
Garry told me to send him reels. He assumes my algorithm is fried. I think I sent him too many. Still sitting on this one though.
Jack & I almost linked with Quiet Rizzler at Birdy’s, for old time’s sake. Next time we’ll pace it out better.
Two For One Special
Kid in a candy store kinda night. They lined this one up for us nicely.
A double header, damn-near perfectly timed & curated to keep the whole thing going.
Started with a heater of an early-show at Market. Some overlap with the Cash Only Tony’s gig mentioned in my last post. Check these photos from their set. & see them asap.
I Promised The World headline. That’s a fkn band, if you ask me. A band you gotta see to believe. Rosasharin tore it up as well. Couldn’t tell if the singer of IPTW was playing guitar, or if there are multiple guys with sideburns like that.
Quite a bit of acrobatics in the crowd. Saw a brief flash of someone’s sneakers in the air, suggesting a back flip.
Next up Baby’s All Right. For free. Can you imagine that? Pure value.
Packed out. No surprise there. The Dallas Cowboys have cornered the band-wearing-masks market in NYC. They been throwing rippers for years & this was one of em.
Featuring Peachole, Reserv, Harry Teardrop, and Handsome Rob. As well as Anna Spaulding’s & Sarah Ellington’s personalities.
First Peachole set of my got damn life. More to come. Lotta songs I woulda Shazammed if I could have. Brought the party.
& The Dallas Cowboys’ cover of “Giving Up the Gun” brought a tear to my eye.
My favorite inter-song segue: “I’m having trouble…my lip ring just fell out. We made this next one while we were high. We was high on kush and this just happened.”
Sarah crowd surfed, middle fingers out, & lost her shoe.
“Who took her shoe?” Aidan asked. “Cinderella moment?”

Team Dinner at Joe’s
The team being Jack and I. You always run into a few goated musicians if you hit Joe’s Restaurant in Ridgewood. This time there were at least three. Many more in the making, I’m sure. Hope to run it back with the full team soon.
Snow Day Pub Crawl
Gleeson & the gang were at a pub watching the game, but I didn’t know which game it was.
Jack and I kept our boozing close to home. Started at Peg’s Cavalier, real civilized, and then hit Cozy Corner once we got things rolling.
Back to Boston
To deliver furniture for my dad & visit my grandmother.
Charlie Horan is still out in Cali, so I’m adrift.

hopefully Adam will release this episode this year and not be slow
